Innovative Tools Stage 2: Working with landholders to protect biodiversity
WetlandCare Australia worked with landholders who were looking for assistance in managing their properties for biodiversity. A qualified environmental specialist visited landowners and developed a property concept plan which may be used to apply for funding opportunities. Funding from the Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority (CMA) allowed this service to be available to all landowners within the NSW Northern Rivers CMA region for a 6 month period.
WetlandCare Australia was then able to secure over $300,000 in Federal and State Government funding for private landholders to undertake onground works identified in their property concept plans. This will assist them to enhance and protect the biodiversity values of their wetlands.
