Threatened fauna - Habitat enhancement and threat abatement - Stage 2
This Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority funded project has accomplished substantial increased recovery outcomes, habitat enhancements and threat reductions for the Bush Stone Curlew, Barking Owl and Brush Tailed Rock Wallaby. It has also seen follow-up maintenance of the Green and Golden Bell Frog enhanced breeding sites at the North Shore of the Hastings River and follow-up bushland regeneration activities at critical Barking Owl habitat sites in the Upper Richmond and Clarence Catchments.
The project has additionally resulted in a substantial increase in the awareness of landholders of the best practices for the protection and rehabilitation of habitat for the four target threatened fauna species. The owners of each of the five properties involved in the project have been specifically trained in the best management practices for management and enhancement of threatened fauna habitat.
Substantial additional community and landholder awareness eventuated from three highly successful field trips held on 26, 27 and 30 June in the Nambucca Valley, Bonville and Moonee. This project was completed during July 2008. For further information please contact Josh Keating, WetlandCare Australia 02 66816169 or email joshkeating@wetlandcare.com.au
