Our Work
WCA undertakes many small Natural Resource Management projects in consultation with landowners and authorities, as well as major programs such as the Coastal Wetland Protection program in QLD (with Conservation Volunteers Australia), WetlandLink communications, northern NSW Fish Unlimited, and the Sustainable Coastal Wetlands Project covering NSW coastal wetlands from Tweed Heads to Gosford.
Our activities include:

- Wetland classification, assessment, mapping, monitoring
- Wetland protection and conservation
- Communications, education, conferences, workshops, seminars
- Building partnerships to improve wetlands
Practical on-ground actions include:
- Management of endangered ecological communities
- Conservation stewardships
- Cattle exclusion fencing and off-creek watering
- Revegetation, including assisting natural regeneration where appropriate
- Sediment and erosion control
- Riparian management
- Biodiversity offsets including significant farm land use change
- Cell and crash grazing
- Feral animal control
- Acid sulphate soils management
- Stream bank assessment and stabilisation
- Drainage system redesign and hydrological manipulation
- Cane toad control activities
- Chemical, mechanical, and integrated weed control
- Water quality improvements
- Integrating swamp and farm management
- Implementing threatened species recovery plans
